iPad 2 Specs And Launch Date

If you ain’t heard, Apple announced the iPad 2 today. Here’s a quick look at the specs and let’s not forget the launch date of March 11th here in the US and March 25th in 26 countries.

iPad 2 Specs:

    • 2x faster than iPad 1
    • 9x faster graphics than iPad 1
  • Front and rear cameras
    • We think photo and video
  • 8.8mm thick (1/3 thinner than iPad 1)
  • 1.3lbs (.2lbs lighter than iPad 1)
  • 1 month of standby time
  • Comes in black or white
  • Built-in Gyroscope
  • Screen remains the same (1024×768)

The Apple online store is still down, but we expect that the iPad 2 will be available for order when it goes back up. Pricing for the tablet will remain the same starting at $499 for the 16GB WiFi version and topping out at $829 for the 64GB 3G+WiFi version.

Battery life, despite the increased processor speed, will also remains the same, which means 10 hours of video playback or web surfing over WiFi.

Thanks to the innovative design team at Apple they’ve slimmed down the iPad’s form factor by 33%, making it beyond svelte and a nice complement to the latest Macbook Airs. It’s also .2lbs lighter than the previous gen iPad.

The all new 1Ghz dual-core A5 processor offers a two times speed improvement over the first chip used in the iPad 1 as well as graphics that are 9x faster.
