Employer Vision Insurance
Employee benefits may include employer insurance that offers you vision insurance. The vision insurance covers your visits to the eye doctor and eyeglasses as needed. Optometrists visits may prove costly so it is always a plus if Employer Vision Insurance is part of your employee benefits.
Employer Vision Insurance may be a group vision insurance that is offered in your employee benefits package and covers you and your family when you are seen through a specific group of optometrists. This is usually referred to as in network providers. The employer insurance usually will pay for your annual examination at 100% if you see an eye doctor that is an in network provider. If you choose to see optometrists that are not covered under the vision insurance you may be required to pay part or all of the visit out of your own pocket.
The policy will include a benefits explanation that lists the services covered by the Employer Vision Insurance. Some pay for basic eyeglasses every year while others pay for lenses every year and new frames every two years. The frames covered may be from a specific grouping of frames and if you choose you can pay the additional cost to upgrade to a more expensive frame. Services like UV coatings, tinting, scratch resistance and anti-reflective coatings may be covered in part or full by your employer insurance. If these are additions you would like to have to your eyeglasses, the optometrists will be able to advise you on which are important to your eyes and the coverage limits of your vision insurance.
