Information: Tea drinking has thousands of years of history in Asian culture. Today, tea consumption and production are widespread all over the world. This class offers an introduction to the Chinese tea tradition, including major categories and characteristics of tea. We'll learn how to properly brew tea and how to choose between many different selections. Our samples will include Lion Mountain Dragon Well (green tea), White Hair Silver Needle (white tea), Premium \i Qi Men \i0 (black tea), Monkey Pick \i Tie Guan Yin \i0 (oolong tea),\i Pu Er \i0 Tea (aged, 2004 Vintage \i Shu Pu \i0), and \i Pu Er \i0 Tea (young, 2011 \i Lao Ban Zhang \i0 Mountain \i Sheng Pu\i0 ). Please note: all of these teas contain caffeine. A $12 tea fee is included in the course fee.Course Code: F917 Sec. 01: 1 Saturday, 10:00 am-12:00 noon. March 31, Brookline High, $42 ($30 plus $12 tea fee).

Instructor: Roger Wu

Biography: Roger Wu is a tea enthusiast who has been pursuing his passion for tea for more than twenty years. To him, tea is not just a drink but a way of life. Roger's daily enjoyment of tea is combined with his appreciation of Chinese classical music and other traditional Chinese arts and culture. Over time, he has gained a lot of knowledge on the history of Chinese tea and learned to appreciate a vast variety of Chinese tea. In recently years, Roger has been introducing and demonstrating tea drinking at leisure and found it most enjoyable to share his tea knowledge with others. Roger Wu has a M.B.A. from Babson College and is currently working at Monster Worldwide Inc. as a senior finance director.
